Open educational resources

Open educational resources are mainly digital teaching or learning materials that are either

  • licensed with an open licence (e.g. CC licences) allowing free access to the resource and its use, sharing and editing without or with certain restrictions, or
  • made free from copyright with the Public Domain mark (in Finland, the moral rights of the author cannot usually be waived)
  • Learn more about CC licences on the Creative Commons website

Publishing open educational resources

You can search for resources or share resources you have made in the Library of Open Educational Resources. It is a service maintained by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Finnish National Agency for Education aiming to promote the use of open educational resources. In the Library of Open Educational Resources, resources are kept safe and receive visibility.

The service is aimed at all levels of education and continuous learning, for teachers, learners and researchers of learning alike.

Open educational resources in publication data collection

If an open educational resource meets the criteria of publication data collection, e.g. the resource is published on an edited channel or it has a publisher, and it is intended for a wider use than a single course or study unit, it can be included in the publication data collection.

Each year, Metropolia publishes some educational resources in its publication series, edited blogs and the Metropolia YouTube channel.

If you are wondering whether your educational resource should be included in the publication data collection, contact Metropolia publishing services (julkaisut@metropolia.fi).
